How Do I Teach My Daughter How to Love Herself?

We circle back here often, in our community of big-hearted mamas. The question is so often: how do I teach my daughter how to love herself? We hear you.

And we want to start off answering with another question (and perhaps a surprising one):

What does God have to do with the mother-daughter relationship?

For that matter, what does the Feminine face of God, or sometimes called the Goddess (perhaps you know her as Mother Mary, Kuan Yin, or Kali Ma), have to do with the mother-daughter relationship?

Well, heck.
To us: a lot. (Yes, really).

Bottom line: we want to raise daughters who love themselves. Right?

Sometimes this can seem like an impossible task in a perfection-obsessed media culture. What we’re radically offering is the best tool we’ve found in our own lives for reclaiming self-love and self-worth in our motherline: what we worship, and how we love ourselves are intimately connected.

Whether we’re religious, spiritual, or agnostic… we all worship at the shrine of something. What do you live in devotion to?

In today’s new episode of We Thrive TV we’re diving into how — perhaps surprisingly — the sacred is intimately woven into our most personal relationships (including our relationship with ourselves, our bodies, and our daughters). And, we’re getting deep with: how can we walk with devotion to the divine within us?

Yup, we’re getting a little bit spiritual today. Maybe talking faith, God and spirituality is your fave thing, maybe it’s not so much your thing. Eh? If not, we’re inviting you to stick it out with us: we’re re-examining what the sacred means, and opening up about being a woman in relationship to whatever you identify as divine. In this episode we’re talking about the best answer we’ve found in our own lives for sourcing self-worth and self-love from within (AKA for knowing we’re the bomb diggity, and not waiting for someone else to tell us).

Once you’ve gotten a chance to check out the video, leave a comment below — because collective wisdom rocks, and we want to hear your take. We need each other, mama.

Love,
